School holidays for 2026/2027

This overview covers the school breaks and additional non-school days in Bulgaria for the 2026/2027 school year. The dates are based on Ministry of Education order No RD09-3345/31.08.2026.

For families arranging leave or a visit to Bulgaria, the main distinction is between breaks shared by all grades and days off that depend on the pupil’s grade. Autumn, Christmas and interterm breaks apply to grades I–XII. Spring dates differ for final-year pupils, while the additional non-school days in May apply to grades I–XI.

The longest shared break

Christmas is the longest break listed for all grades, with 11 calendar days from Thursday, 24 December 2026, to Sunday, 3 January 2027. It spans the end of December and the beginning of January, making both months relevant when planning around the school calendar.

The other shared breaks are shorter. Autumn provides three calendar days, running from the end of October into early November. The interterm break lasts four calendar days and falls across the end of January and the beginning of February.

These lengths are calendar-day totals, so they include the weekends within each break. Use the full date ranges when matching family plans to the school holidays.

Spring break depends on the grade

For grades I–XI, spring break runs from Saturday, 3 April, to Sunday, 11 April 2027: nine calendar days in total. This is the longer of the two spring breaks listed.

Grade XII pupils have a later start, on Thursday, 8 April, but the same end date of Sunday, 11 April 2027. Their break lasts four calendar days. Families with children in different grades should therefore check the applicable start date rather than assume that everyone has the same spring holiday.

Additional non-school days in May

Wednesday, 5 May, and Friday, 7 May 2027, are listed as additional non-school days for grades I–XI. They are separate dates, not a single continuous break in this overview.

These May dates are not listed for grade XII. Keep that distinction in mind when coordinating plans for final-year pupils and younger children.
